Week of October 7th!

We had another exciting week with the Letters Ff and Pp, a visit from the firefighters, pumpkins, pizza, and Halloween fun!

On Monday morning, we practiced writing the letter Ff (as well as the letters in our name and any other letters we wanted to practice writing!) with funny fingers that had colorful fingernails in flour!

The firefighters came to WIPP on Monday!  They showed us all of the gear that they wear to be safe when fighting fires. They put it all on for us so we could see that they were not scary, and if there ever was an emergency, we should go to them because they would be there to help us!  We even got to climb up into the firetruck, look around, and come out the other side.  They gave us our very own fire hats, too!

Some of us even gave the firefighter a high five when he was dressed up in all of his gear!

We read a Pete the Cat book about firefighters when we got back to the classroom!

The Share Bag was returned and some very special items were shared with the class!

On Tuesday, we had our Big Event Pp!  We got to wear a blindfold mask (for no Peeking!), Pick a Pp item out of a real Pizza box, sort the item onto Pink Paper with the correct Picture, and eat a Pringle Potato chip when we were done!  In the Pizza box, we found Pumpkins, Potatoes, and Pears!  After everyone had a turn, we counted each item to see which had the most!

We cut out uppercase Ps during Table Time on Tuesday morning, and glued on real pumpkin seeds during Center Time!

We read If you Give a Pig a Pancake before Snack Time!

On Wednesday, we did the Pp page in our Journals with Ms. Julie, and read a Pumpkin Picking Scholastic Weekly Reader with Mrs. Horton during Center Time!

The Alphabet Bag was returned with so many items that started with the Letter Pp!  We pulled each item out, wrote them on our Pp word chart, counted them when we were done (there were 12 Pp items!), and then we read the book that was in the Alphabet Bag (The Pigs' Picnic) and came up with even more words that start with the p-p-p sound!  Great Job!

On Thursday, we read the book Five Little Pumpkins, sang the Five Little Pumpkins song, and made our own Five Little Pumpkins during Center Time at the Art Center!  We all practiced writing the Letter P on the whiteboard and on our five little pumpkins project, too!

We also did a Math Center, where we rolled a dice and counted the corresponding number of Candy Corn to put on our Candy Corn 10 count strip!

We read a story called Pete the Cat and the Perfect Pizza Party, and we each got to put an item from the book on our pretend classroom pizza while we read the story!  We discovered that Pete and his friends love many items that start with P on their pizza:  pepperoni, pickles, pistachios, popcorn, pretzels, and papayas!

We have been enjoying our weekly jobs!  Ask your child what job they had this week!  Each week, several friends are also 'On Vacation' (so they get a break!)

As always, we have so much fun at Table Time in the morning and during Centers!

These 2 friends designed their own Park on the white board!

Pre-K Pizza Restaurant in Pretend Play!

We had delicious Healthy Snacks this week!  A big thank you to all of the parents that have sent in healthy snack so far this year!  We have enjoyed everything so much!

We had such a fun week!  Hope everyone enjoyed the day off on Friday and had a great weekend!  See you on Monday!

~Ms. Julie
