Week of October 21st!

We had another fun and busy week in the Pre-K 4s at WIPP!  We started the week by reading the book Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes!  We listened to it on CD, too, and we were able to help tell the story as we listened!  We played our air guitars and sang along with Pete as he sang his song about how much he loves his shoes!  So much fun!  At Art Center, we got to make our own Pete the Cat!  We cut out 4 shoes during Table Time, and put the rest of Pete together during Center Time!  We got a lot of cutting practice in!

We also had some Pete the Cat Activities at our Table Games Center!  With a file folder game, we color matched pictures of Pete's shoes.  We also used letter tiles to spell out color words with Pete!

Chester had another fun weekend adventure with one of our friends!

The Share Bag came back to class and some really cool items were shared!

We continued with Pete the Cat Fun on Tuesday!  At table time, we practiced fine motor skills by tracing different types of lines to help Pete find the different things he stepped in from the book Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes.

Also on Tuesday, we got to wear our favorite shoes to school!  At Circle Time, we each took turns talking about our favorite shoes with the class.  We are making our own class book, We Love Our Shoes (based on the book Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes!). A sneak peek of the cover of the book is below!  I will take pictures of each page of the book, so you will be able to see the finished product!  So much fun!

Two of our friends chose the EXACT same shoes as their favorite shoes!

Here is the book cover preview!

On Tuesday, we also had a special Taste Test Activity!  We got to 'taste' all of the items that Pete the Cat stepped in while wearing his White Shoes!  He stepped in strawberries that made his white shoes red, blueberries that turned his white shoes blue, mud that turned his shoes brown, and water that turned his shoes white again (and WET!). We got to taste strawberries, blueberries, mud (chocolate pudding!), and water.  We voted on which item we liked the most and graphed our answers with shoes that we colored in!  Mud (chocolate pudding!) was the winner!

We started off Wednesday with Spanish!  Ms. Emily taught us some Spanish word Halloween Yoga!

We then read a book about bats!  We talked about what we thought we knew before we read the book, and then talked about what we learned after we read the book.  We made our own bats during Center Time (using different Kitchen Utensils OR our handprints!).

On Thursday, we read some more stories about bats, and we wrote our own bat stories to go along with the bats we created on Wednesday!  The bats and stories will be hanging in the hallway outside of our classroom this week!

We also cut out pumpkins and decorated them with Halloween stickers!

We are going to start pouring our own water at snack time this week, so we had a special water center on Thursday and Friday where we could practice this skill!  We used different sized droppers, too, just to get some more fine motor practice in!

On Friday, we read a book about a Bumblebee Bat and made our own bat snack during Center Time that we got to eat at snack time!  Yum!

We continue to have fun learning and playing at Table Time and during Center Time.

We love doing our class jobs, too!

Such a fun week!  Hope everyone has a great weekend, and I will see you on Monday!

~Ms. Julie
