Week of September 23rd!

What a busy week we've had!  We continued talking about the letter Ss this week, and we are reviewing the letter Aa!  At Table Time on Monday, we put Star Stickers on the letter S, and had some new S activities at the tables.  We sorted objects that make the S-s-s sound or the A-a-a sound, and we clipped clothespins on the CD with the corresponding letter (Aa or Ss).

Scrabble Fun!

Music with Miss Kathleen is always a great way to start our Mondays!  She always reads us silly stories, and we get to sing silly songs, too!

The Alphabet Bag Ss was sent home over the weekend and was returned with 3 items that start with the letter Ss:  Snake, Slim Jim, and Stegosaurus!  We read the book from Alphabet Bag, 'Seal's Silly Sandwich', and thought of words that started with S!

Tuesday, we started the morning with our first official fire drill of the year!  We got in line as soon as we heard the fire alarm, and we were out side in one minute and twenty four seconds!  Everyone did a great job!

We read the book Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle at Circle Time and then made Seahorse S's at the Art Center!

The Seahorses on our Art Bulletin Board:

Before Snack Time, we read another Ss Book: Silly Sally!  Then we listened and danced to
Shake Your Sillies Out!  So fun!

We continue to enjoy Center Time!

During Playground Time, we are watching the new playground being built!  It is very cool to watch the daily progress!  So far this week, they are flattening the ground and have the poles for the swings up!

We started our Wednesday off with Spanish Class with Ms. Emily!
We danced to Shake Your Sillies out again before starting Center Time for the day!

We made our Ss Journal Page during Center Time!  We traced and wrote an uppercase and lowercase Ss, glued down our Ss picture and a STOP sign, and put on our Ss stickers!

During our second Circle, before snack time, we read a book about a cat named Splat!

On Thursday, we learned about Johnny Appleseed, made our own Johnny Appleseed Tin Pan Hats, and celebrated his birthday!  We read a book about Johnny Appleseed (while Ms. Julie tried to balance a tin pot on her head!)

Happy Birthday, Johnny Appleseed!

Friday was RED day and everyone remembered to wear RED!  We read a Clifford Book, "Clifford Takes a Trip" (because he is the big RED dog!), and painted with RED paint at the Easel!  Some friends had never painted at an easel before!  Everyone loved it!

We also made our October Placemats with Fall leaves of all different colors, types and sizes!

We thought of even MORE words that started with S and added them to our list from earlier in the week! We continued to enjoy Center Time!

Our Question of the Day this week was "Are you wearing green?"  'No' was the most popular answer each day this week (except Wednesday!). And today NO ONE was wearing green! (Of course, because it was RED day!)

We celebrated a birthday at Snack Time!

We definitely had another busy, FUN week!  Have a great weekend everyone!
