Ms. Julie and Mrs. Horton's 4s!: Another Busy Week in Pre-K!

We had a great week in Pre-K, starting on Monday with our first Music class with Ms. Kathleen! She shared the story of There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly and also taught us about Noah and his Ark! We sang a fun Noah song, too! Later in the week, we enjoyed playing with a Noah's ark play set and animals!

At Circle Time, we read the book, "I Like Myself", and at Art Center we made ME Collages!

They are on display in our classroom on our Art Center Bulletin Board!

On Tuesday, we read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and made Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Name Trees! We are working so hard on recognizing and writing the letters in our name!

There is excitement in our Science Center! Our Ant Mountain arrived in class today, and we have started watching our ants move sand around in their habitat and build tunnels! We learned that ants are insects and have 3 body parts (head, thorax, abdomen), and learned a song to help us remember! (See if your child can sing it to you!). We will be watching the ants and learning more about them in the next couple of weeks!

We read a Scholastic weekly reader during Centers about School Rules, and talked about and reviewed our rules at school in the classroom and on the playground.

On Friday, we had our Big Event Aa! We have a new Animal Hospital in our Pretend Play Center! To practice the letter Aa and the sound it makes, we each took turns taking a sick Animal in an Ambulance to the Animal hospital, while the rest of us said "Aaah...aaah" for the ambulance's siren! We put an Aa bandaid on each animal and ate an Apple Jack when we were done! So much fun!

We started using the wooden blocks in our Blocks Center and read the book When I Build With Blocks. We learned there are so many possibilities of what you can build when playing with blocks and using your imagination, and we also learned how to clean up the blocks!
