Pajama Day/Week of January 21st!

We had a marvelous week in Ms. Julie and Mrs. Horton's Pre-K 4s Class at WIPP!

Pajama Day was on Friday, January 24th!  We each got to wear our pajamas to school, bring a stuffed animal, pillow, blanket/sleeping bag, AND we got to watch (part of!) a movie!  We watched Aladdin!
We had fun doing our Table Time work (practicing writing our names!) in our pajamas!  We did Center Time in our pajamas, too!  So silly!

At Circle Time, we answered our Question of the Day:  Do you like blueberry muffins?  This is a preview of an activity we will be doing on Monday, January 27th:  Blue Day and a cooking activity!  We counted the stars for each answer (yes or no!) and the Question of the Day helper wrote the numbers on the white board!  Great Job!

We had a relaxing Circle Time where we could lie down on our bellies if we wanted!  This builds upper body (shoulder and arm) strength which will help with writing and other fine motor skills!

We each got a turn to stand up and tell the class what special items we had brought/worn for Pajama Day, and we read the book, "If You Take a Mouse to the Movies"!

Mrs. Horton and Ms. Julie got a chance to share what they had worn, too!

The kids loved watching Mrs. Horton pop the popcorn in the air popper!  They loved eating it during the movie, too!

Earlier in the week, we talked about the Letter Mm and the sound it makes!  We read Jan Brett's book, "The Mitten" and painted a mitten with watercolors!

We also read, "Bear Snores On", a story about a hibernating bear!

At Table Time on Wednesday, we cut out an uppercase M that we would paint with m-m-marshmallows at Center Time!

We had our Big Event Mm on Wednesday!  We reviewed the letter Mm:  how to write it and the sound it makes!  We each got to wear (if we wanted!) some silly mustache sunglasses or a mustache sticker (or both!?). We pulled an item that started with M out of a m-m-mail bag, told the class what it was, and put it on a m-m-moon before getting to eat a m-m-mini m-m-marshmallow!  Our friends made the m-m-m sound while we each took a turn!  So m-m-much silly fun!

On Thursday, the Alphabet Bag was returned and several items starting with the Letter Mm were shared:  a mitten, a mouse, and a monkey!  We thought of Mm words to write on our pad!  We read the story from the Alphabet Bag, Monkey's Miserable Monday!

We worked on the Mm page in our Journals during Center Time!

We talked about letters that are formed using straight lines (like an uppercase M!) and we used colorful popsicle sticks on black paper to make some straight-lined letters during Centers!

We read a very silly book called, "Count the Monkeys"!

All week, we explored many new Mm Centers and activities in the classroom!  Some friends even kept their m-m-mustache stickers on for Centers!  Love it!

Table Games:  Barrel of M-m-monkeys and M-m-money Sort!

M-m-marble Run (a small one and a larger scale STEM activity which is the same idea with cardboard tubes, plastic pipe joints and types of balls!)

M-m-magnetic Gears!

We talked even MORE about letters that are formed with straight lines (like uppercase M!). At Snack Time, we used stick pretzels to make letters while we ate them!  Great alphabet practice even while we eat!

Playdough fun stringing beads on skewers and pulling beads out of the playdough!
Such GREAT fine motor practice!

We are always practicing our writing and fine motor skills!  We are learning to recognize and write our LAST names now, too!

We always love the Pretend Play Center!  It is still set up as an Ice Cream Shop!

We love doing our classroom jobs!

Another busy week!  We are looking forward to more January fun next week!
