Happy New Year 2020!

Happy New Year 2020 from Ms. Julie and Mrs. Horton's Pre-K 4s Class!  We had a great first week back at school!

On Tuesday at Table Time, we learned that the New Year is 2020!  We practiced our fine motor skills by placing stickers on the numbers 2020 and got to wear and take home some silly 2020 glasses!

We started our new weekly jobs at Circle Time.

Question of the Day Helper

We read a story called The Little Snowflake and learned about the adventures of a snowflake during a snow storm!

At Centers, we made our January Calendars.  We cut and glued small pieces of paper and created beautiful snowflake calendars to take home!

On Wednesday, we practiced writing our names at Table Time and decorated a snowflake!  We had our first Spanish Class of the New Year with Ms. Emily!

At Circle Time, we read another book about the Little Snowflake called Little Snowflake's Big Adventure!

At Center Time, we used Gears dipped in white paint to make our January snowflake placemats for snack time!  We got to add some sparkly blue glittery snowflakes, too!

On Thursday, we learned about the Letter Yy and the sound it makes!  At Table Time, we cut out a Yellow Y which we decorated during Center Time with Yellow Yarn!

At Circle Time, we had our Big Event Yy!  We pulled a yellow item/word that starts with Yy out of a big yellow bag, put in on a felt yellow y, answered Yes if we wanted to try a Yogurt raisin, walked on Yellow yarn while we decided if the Yogurt raisin was Yummy or Yucky, and the put decision on the Yak's Yum/Yuck Chart!  The Yum side was the winner!

Of course, we HAD to dance to the song YMCA!  We learned the arm movements and sang and danced along to the music!

We also practiced some new Y-y-yoga poses!

On Friday at Table time, we colored our Yy pictures for our Journals which we added to the Yy page in our Journals at Center Time!

We had our first Music class of the new year with Ms. Kathleen!  We learned about David and Goliath, sang a D-A-V-I-D song (to the tune of B-I-N-G-O!), and read a book about an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow!

Yy Journal Page!

And then it was time for Lizzie the Comfort Dog to visit!  Her handlers told us a little bit about Lizzie: how old she is (4!), how she was trained, what she does to get ready each day, and how she spends her days bringing comfort to people all around Savannah!  We each got a turn to pet her, too!  We loved having her in our classroom!

She even demonstrated on Ms. Julie how she can give people "hugs"!

One more group photo!

Also on Friday, the Alphabet Bag was returned and several items that start with the Letter Yy were shared:  a yard waste bag, a yellow rectangle, and a yam!  Great job...that was a hard one!

This week, we started pouring our own water at snack time!  Everyone did a GREAT job with this!!!

We enjoyed exploring all of our new "Winter" Centers this week!
