Week of February 10th!

We had another fun and exciting week in the Pre-K 4s with Ms. Julie and Mrs. Horton!  We learned about the letter Ll, watched our Ladybug Larvae grow, and celebrated Love and Valentine's Day!

On Monday at Table Time, we cut out L's for our Ladybug on L Art project that we would finish at Art Center.  Our ladybug's wings can even open and close!

We started our new jobs:

We had music class with Ms. Kathleen!

We had fun exploring all of our new Ll Centers and Valentine's Day activities!

We l-l-loved watching our Ladybug Larvae in our Science Center!  We talked about the different stages they will go through before they turn into ladybugs:  egg, larva, pupa, and finally adult ladybugs! The larvae are getting bigger and will hopefully enter the Pupa stage soon!

We read a story by Eric Carle called "The Grouchy Ladybug".

We learned about Chester's fun weekend with one of our friends!

On Tuesday, we had our Big Event for the Letter Ll!  We talked about how to write the Letter Ll and the sound that it makes.  We each took turns climbing a l-l-ladder, picking a l-l-leaf (that had the letter Ll on it!) off of a tree, and putting it on a l-l-line that went between our friends Lulu and Lili.  We then got to get a l-l-lollipop from the l-l-ladybug to put in our backpacks that we could eat l-l-later!  It was some of our friends' first time on a ladder (and they were very excited about that!). No worries, we only let them on the first rung!

We decorated our Valentine's Day bags at Center Time!

We enjoyed our new centers, got some more practice in writing our names, and worked on our special projects for our Dads!

 L-l-lacing!
 L-legos!

Post Office in Pretend Play!

We especially l-l-loved playing at the l-l-light table with some mini-magnatiles and l-l-letters!

We have been watching our ladybug larvae grow!

Thank you for your donations for the Ronald McDonald House!  We will be collecting through the end of February!

On Wednesday at Table Time, we colored pictures for the Ll page in our journals that we would finish during Center Time!  We continued working on a special project for our Dads!

The Alphabet Bag was returned and several items that begin with the Letter Ll were shared with the class:  leaves, lego, and lion!

We read the book from the Alphabet Bag, 'The Lamb Who Loved to Laugh'.  We thought of words that start with the letter Ll and wrote them on our pad!

We had fun in all of our Centers and outside on the playground, too!

On Thursday, we practiced writing our names at Table Time, we painted small hearts at Center Time, we continued to work on a special project for our Dads for next week (shhhh!!!), and we had fun in all of our centers!

We read TWO Clifford the Big Red Dog Valentine's Day Books today!
(One at each of our 2 Circle Times!). We LOVE Clifford!

And possibly the most exciting part of the morning, was when Mr. Trey came in to see what was wrong with one of the lights in our classroom!  Everyone had so many questions!

Friday was Valentines Day!  It was also Pink AND Red Day in our classroom!

In the morning, we practiced our fine motor skills by decorating hearts with stickers!

At Circle Time, we each took turns standing in front of the class and shared what we were wearing that was pink and red!  We tallied and counted up all of the red/pink items!

At Center Time, we painted with Pink and Red paint at the easel, and we took turns putting our Valentines in our friends' Valentine Bags!

Then it was time for our Valentine's Day Party!  A HUGE thank you to all of the parents who helped organize, who brought in items, who helped set up and clean up, and to all of those who were able to attend!  We appreciate you SO much!

We hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day!  Here are the Blowing Kisses cards we made for parents (which we hope you found in your child's folder?!)

Again, thank you so much for all that you do!  We are so blessed to have such a wonderful group of children and parents!  We had a fabulous week!

~Ms. Julie
