On Monday, we started off the day with a Christmas Program rehearsal in the Church! When we returned to the classroom, we had a quick Circle Time where we learned what our new jobs were for the week, and talked about our new centers. At Art Center, we made Candy Cane ornaments out of beads! We hung them on our classroom tree, and the kids will get to take them home this week to hang on their trees at home!
Monday Center Fun!
The Share Bag was returned and some special items were shared with the class!
Chester had another great weekend with one of our friends!
On Tuesday, we cut out a Letter C at Table Time. We turned these Cs into Candy Cane Cs at Center Time by painting red stripes on them!
We had more fun in our Letter Cc/Christmas Time Centers!
We had our Big Event Cc during our second Circle Time on Tuesday! We each got to c-c-crawl into a c-c-cave, find an item that started with the Letter Cc, put it on or around a c-c-car, and get a c-c-candy cane by the c-c-cash register that we put in our c-c-cubby! When it wasn't our turn, we made the 'C' sound, while tapping our knees! We also talked about how the letter Cc can make several different sounds! (hard C, soft C, and when combined with other letters, as in 'ch'.)
Wednesday was Green Day! At Circle Time, we each got a turn to show the rest of the class all of the green items we were wearing! We read the book "Little Blue and Little Yellow". It is a story about 2 friends who when they play and hug each other, they make green! At Center Time, we had a color mixing center where we mixed blue and yellow dyed water with droppers to make green in our own ice cube tray! We also mixed blue and yellow while painting at the easel! Many children painted pictures based on the story!
We also worked on the Cc page in our journals!
During our second Circle Time, the Alphabet Bag was returned with several items that start with the Letter Cc: cup, comb, and candle. We read the Cc story from inside the Alphabet Bag, Copycats. and thought of as many Cc words as we could to write on our pad.
We always enjoy reading books after snack time and before we go out on the playground!
On Thursday, we worked on a special Christmas surprise for parents! We read the book Pete the Cat Saves Christmas, and had fun in all of our Centers!
On Friday, we practiced writing our names at Table Time, worked on more Christmas surprises, and enjoyed all of our Cc/Christmas Centers! We sang a silly song at each of our Circle Times about
S-A-N-T-A to the tune of B-I-N-G-O, replacing one letter with the word "Ho!" each time! So much silly fun!
We played Musical Chairs/Identify the letter after snack time because it rained (hard!) all morning, and we couldn't play on the playground.
We are looking forward to one more fabulous week before break!
~Ms. Julie
